Would you believe me if I said this Brownie BREAD calls for no flour? No wheat flour, gluten free flours, nut flours, coconut flour, nor any kind of flour?

Have you heard of such a bread before? Neither had I. Until I created this beaut, of course. Therefore, I’d say my Brownie Bread recipe is one of a kind, made with fabulous Paleo approved ingredients that bind it together perfectly, making it fluffy, decadent and rich.

It is made with six simple, nutritious ingredients.

  • Organic eggs
  • Coconut oil
  • Coconut sugar
  • Raw cacao powder
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sea salt

Brownie BreadAll of the above blend together to create a dreamy dessert that can shine pretty much anywhere! My husband took it to an all guys poker party, and it was a hit! LOL. So awesome. You know a treat is good when manly dudes devour it.

But do you want to know what my favorite ingredient of this whole recipe is?

The oh-so-glorious RAW CACAO.

So let’s talk a little bit more about cacao, as I want you to know why I have such a high esteem for this little fermented seed.

THE RAW CACAO POWER

Cacao is the dried and fully fermented seed of the cacao plant, an evergreen tree native to tropical regions (one of which, is my home country: Ecuador — no wonder I am a huge fan of cacao).

The cacao seed is considered a superfood as it has a long list of health benefits. Below is a condensed list of all it can do for us:

Combats free-radicals with all of its antioxidants

By consuming foods rich in antioxidants, such as cacao, we are helping our bodies fight free radicals that can cause cell or tissue damage leading into cancer or other diseases.

Highest plant-based source of iron

This superfood contains 7.3 mg of iron per 100 g., which is more than spinach (3.6 mg.) or beef/lamb (2.5 mg.). Iron is a crucial component of hemoglobin, the element in red blood cells that helps us carry oxygen from our lungs to the rest of our body. Therefore, we rely on iron consumption to aid proper oxygen circulation and overall health.

Good source of magnesium

A single tablespoon of cacao has 27 mg. of magnesium (6% of your daily needed value). Magnesium is needed for more than 300 enzymatic reactions, which include muscle contraction and relaxation, bone building, cardiac health, etc. Consequently, cacao helps us keep those levels high to prevent the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Boosts blood flow to brain

Our superfood has been shown to improve blood flow to all organs in the body, reducing the risk for dementia and improving our brain’s ability to solve problems.

Mood enhancer and anti-depressant

Cacao contains neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine and anandamide), which give us feelings of happiness, well-being, joy, delight and bliss.

Description

This easy to make Brownie Bread recipe takes 35 minutes to prepare, it’s soft, moist, decadent and perfectly balanced. A perfect Paleo treat for any party.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 cup raw cacao powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 5 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a 10” bread pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Mix all ingredients (except chopped walnuts) in a large bowl until smooth. Fold in chopped walnuts, saving but a few for garnishing.
  3. Pour batter in the lined bread loaf, sprinkle remaining on top and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool completely, and refrigerate for about 3 hours before slicing.
